Analysis of Integrative Medicine for Elephantiasis

A project for the Institute of Applied Dermatology, India where, analysis of the various techniques and treatments prescribed to Elephantiasis patients, working with real-world data, to find the most effective, consistent treatment. MapReduce tasks were also written, to efficiently manage the data. The project was presented at The 8th National Colloquium on Evidence-Based Integrative MedicineA project for the Institute of Applied Dermatology, India where, analysis of the various techniques and treatments prescribed to Elephantiasis patients, working with real-world data, to find the most effective, consistent treatment. Technologies Used: R, MapReduce, Electronic Health Records.

My Role:
  • Performed Frequency-pattern mining from large amounts of data using MapReduce.
  • Collected training data personally from the Indian Institute of Applied Dermatology (IAD) in Kerala, India.
  • Built an Electronic Health Record system for IAD to manage the patient data.
  • Presented emperical results to doctors which helped improve their prescriptions, yeilding faster recovery time.
